No ground plane needed
I bought this antenna for a base station but was concerned that I would need a ground plane as in most other transmitter antennas.

Works well, could be better if better quality stainless
I have this mounted on the masthead of my Compac16.
The antennae works well but, I have noticed some oxidation.
